Jennifer Walker obtained a doctorate in physics at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Spain, in 2011. However, she threw off physics and academia for good to follow a precarious career as a professional writer. She moved to Budapest in 2013 and established herself as a travel and culture writer, publishing various guidebooks on Budapest and Vienna.

 

She has also been published in numerous magazines and newspapers. In 2015, her article for Quartz on mental health in academia, most notably for those doing a PhD, went viral, opening up a discussion on the topic.
